hair care GUIDE

BELOW ARE SOME TIPS AND GUIDELINES ON HOW TO BEST MAINTAIN YOUR VIRGIN & RAW HAIR EXTENSIONS:

  • Bundles & Wigs
  • Detangle Gently: Use a wide-tooth comb or detangling brush, starting from the ends and working your way up to the weft - especially before washing, as this will ensure that the hair is easier to manage while wet.

  • Co-Wash Before Install: Gently cleanse the hair in lukewarm water with a sulfate-free / paraben-free conditioner and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse in cold water and then let your hair air dry before installing to enhance moisture and softness. Under no circumstances should you rub or scrub your hair! Please treat the extensions as you would your own hair.

  • Moisturise & Hydrate: Apply a small amount lightweight oil daily to keep the hair nourished and prevent dryness. Too much oil can lead product build up which can weigh the hair down.

  • How to Reduce Static: If you notice that your hair has some static, this is normal. As our virgin and raw hair undergo minimal processing, it lacks the additional silicones and coatings found in processed hair, therefore making it reactive to static. This is also due to the dryness, friction from packaging and environmental factors. Simply hydrate & moisturise the hair by deep conditioning and avoid over-washing as this will strip the natural moisture. Another hack is to use dryer sheets! By rubbing a dryer sheet lightly over the hair, this can quickly reduce static buildup.

  • Limit Heat Usage: Avoid excessive heat styling. Always use a heat protectant when using hot tools and use a low to medium heat always. Immediate blow drying is not recommended because it could potentially cause strand breakage from overheating and strip the hair of moisture, leading to frizz, tangling and breakage.

  • Avoid Heavy Products: Stay away from heavy oils, greasy products, and alcohol-based sprays, which can weigh the hair down or cause excessive buildup.

  • Wrap Hair at Night: Always wrap your hair in a silk scarf and/or bonnet to reduce friction, breakage and maintain softness.

  • For Curly & Wavy Textures: Ensure that your hair is slightly damp by using a spray bottle with a detangling solution or water. Gently detangle in sections from the end to the root using either your fingers or a detangling brush. Please avoid brushing dry curls/waves. Kindly use a curl-enhancing mousse or lightweight styling cream to define your curls/waves. Add a lightweight serum for additional shine. Ensure that you twist/plait your hair every night before bed and detangle in the morning.

  • Excessive Dyeing: This can weaken your hair. If you are colouring your hair, ensure that it is done by a professional stylist and maintain proper aftercare with deep conditioning every 2 weeks.

  • Regular Treatment: We advise that you deep condition the hair regularly, every 2 weeks for 30-60 minutes before rinsing with cold water to lock in moisture, prevent frizz and reduce tangling. This is because the hair has been cut off from its donor, therefore, it will be lacking the nutrients it would normally receive. As such, these nutrients have to be manually introduced back into the hair to give it lustre and increase its longevity. We recommend that you use a hair mask to deep condition. In addition to this, please use a sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoo and conditioner.

  • Cutting Bundles: Weft sealant is highly recommended if your stylist intends on cutting the wefts. By applying a weft sealant before installation this can help to reduce shedding and breakage.

  • Closures & Frontals
  • Please have a hair professional bleach your knots.

  • Avoid excessive brushing through the hair very often because it may loosen the knots and contribute to increased shedding as well.

  • Please follow the hair care tips in the above section for the overall health and longevity of your lace product.
